News from Nanchang University (Correspondent: Yang Shuyuan) On the morning of January 16, the signing ceremony for the establishment of the Refractory Metal New Materials Research Center between Nanchang University and the People’s Government of Dayu County was held at our university. Luo Sihai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanchang University, Nie Shaoping, Vice President of Nanchang University, and Zeng Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Magistrate of Dayu County, attended the event.
Luo Sihai welcomed the delegation led by Zeng Zhiping and introduced the university’s development history and core strengths. He stated that taking this signing as a new starting point, both sides should further expand the breadth and depth of cooperation, build an innovation platform together, and form a complete chain of “basic research – applied development – pilot transformation – industrialization” to create a collaborative innovation engine. They should jointly tackle key technical problems, focusing on core demands such as the preparation and optimization of refractory metal materials to carry out targeted research. They should jointly cultivate professional talents by fostering young backbones through multiple forms such as order-based training and the appointment of “Science and Technology Vice Presidents”. They should jointly build a service ecosystem, deeply integrate innovation resources with industrial demands, promote the implementation of achievements and talent growth, and inject strong “Nanchang University wisdom” and “Nanchang University strength” into Dayu County’s efforts to build a characteristic industrial cluster for deep space economy and achieve high-quality development.
Zeng Zhiping thanked Nanchang University for its long-term support for Dayu County’s development and introduced the current situation and future plans of Dayu’s industrial development. He noted that Dayu County is seizing opportunities for high-quality development and actively deploying frontier industries such as deep space economy and new materials. The joint construction of the research center with Nanchang University is a vivid practice of the “government-university-industry-research-application” integrated collaboration. Dayu County will fully provide service support to promote the implementation of cooperative achievements, and looks forward to advancing the transformation and upgrading of tungsten and non-ferrous metal industries by leveraging Nanchang University’s scientific research and talent advantages, realizing mutual prosperity between the university and the locality.

At the ceremony, the university signed a framework agreement with Dayu County for the Refractory Metal New Materials Research Center, and signed scientific research project cooperation agreements with three enterprises including Jiangxi Tante New Materials Technology Co., Ltd.
Responsible persons of relevant departments of Dayu County, representatives of key enterprises, and responsible persons of relevant units of Nanchang University attended the meeting.
